Atlanta – Super Bowl Weekend Part 1
Updated: Jan 7, 2019

As everyone knows the Super Bowl will be in Atlanta (2/3/19) and being played at the new Mercedes Benz stadium. This weekend is going to be packed with plenty of things to do. Super Bowl events, celeb parties, clubs, good food, etc etc etc. But do you know what else it’s going to be packed with?

Traffic!!! Plenty of traffic for everyone. So what’s the plan? Well I think you have two options.
Option 1 depends on what you’re coming down for. Let’s say you’re actually coming down here to watch the game or participate in all the activities around the Stadium. Well I suggest you stay as close to the stadium as possible. There are plenty of hotels in the area and if you don’t mind spending a little extra money you will be pretty much in the center of everything. World of Coca Cola, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Center, State Farm Arena, a few bars and restaurants will all be within walking distance. The City Pass is your best cheapest friend if you plan to visit these locations.
Option 2 is for those that find it rather enjoyable to save money by not staying in an expensive hotel and doesn’t taking the train to their destination. Atlanta’s transit system is called MARTA and by staying near one of the many stops you can get to Buckhead, Midtown, and Downtown fairly easy. Mercedes Benz Stadium is connected to the GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station.

If you haven’t noticed, I took the liberty of marking some stations.
A check is safer than Chicago. An X … has a red X ever been good?
This option is also great for those that are flying in because you can take the train from Hartsfield Jackson Airport to where ever your hotel is if you’re on one of the rail lines.
Option 3 is for those of you that plan to drive to Atlanta. You have a lot more options when it comes to a place to stay, but I still suggest you take MARTA if you’re headed into town. Yes Uber and Lyft will be around, but they will add to the traffic as well. Below is a list of Metro Atlanta cities that have nice hotels, restaurants, shopping, and some night life nearby.
I'll do a part 2 soon and that will focus more on hotels and things to do in the surrounding areas. It’s going to be a great weekend for sure, but be sure to book early, plan your trip and how to get around, and stay safe!!!
